Plan of Attack Summary of Project The term project for ECIV 405, Fall 2014 Semester, is the Jake Jabs College of Business Entrepreneurship (JJCBE). JJCBE will be constructed in the northeast side of the campus at Montana State University, Bozeman. The building site is north of Wilson Hall, east of the Chemistry and Biochemistry Building, and about 500 feet north of Montana Hall. JJCBE is expected to attain LEED Gold status at the completion of the project, which is very exciting for Montana State University. The existing project site is relatively flat, existing utilities need to be moved, trees need to be cut down, and pavement needs to be cut before construction can commence. Team Member Responsibilities Our team consists of Andrewâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Our team will keep work hours strictly to 7AM -5PM with studentsââ¬â¢ dormitories close by. Time of Day delivery restrictions could also apply given campus activities. Keeping an aggressive schedule, staying ahead of schedule, and planning work far in advance will assist so that these restrictions do not hit unexpectedly. Weather Weather in Montana can be very unpredictable at times. Snow comes early, and stays late. Our team will work in proactive means to prevent delays to the schedule. As we near winter months, we will also account for longer lead times to receive materials so we are not delayed from deliveries, only installation deliveries with unexpected weather. University Traffic Protection of the public is crucial throughout the entirety of the project. Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship is being constructed on a very busy campus, in a populated area. Controlling and detouring traffic, people, and parking around the site properly will be of grave concern. The entire construction site will be enclosed in 6 ft. high chain link fence and where pedestrian safety is exclusively endangered outside this area, barricades will be placed to inform persons of possible safety hazards. If any visitors are brought to the project site, proper safety orientation will be successfully completed and they will wear proper PPE. Crane Operations

Social class - 2037 Words
Name: Richard Kiau Course: Intro to Sociology Lecture: Shawn Vargas University Of Belize Date: 17/4/2014 We are aware that there are a variety of different types of stratification however social class is the main area of division in people. A number of different theories have been made to bring together an explanation on the ways social class is viewed and how society notices this effect. I will give comparison of Marx and Weber s perspectives on social class and inequality will be made, as we know it is quiet debatable on who s view is correct but I will compare and contrast the similarities and differences finally weighing up a discussion to see both sides of the views. The main differenceâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Weber made a significant difference to Marx s theory; he believed in groups with held a status. class was defined as unequal distribution of economic rewards where as a status group was an unequal distribution of social honor (Giddens, 1991, pg212) According to Haralambos (2002 pg34) a status group is described as a group made up of individuals who are awarded a similar amount of social honor and therefore share the same status stratification (Haralambos Holborn (2002), pg 37). In the present British Society social class is greatly influential on our everyday lives it affects each day of career, health housing. In Britain during the 1990 s there wasn t much of a great change in sources that a trend of class inequality being decreased. According to Haralambos and Holborn (2002) close attention was paid to the closing gap of inequality for example the socio-economic group attributes of employment was influenced by social class for many centuries. Repeatedly the working classes have only been given the chance to work in an unskilled occupation or one which was half skilled, given that their class showed their knowledge educational level they were unable to move up the socio- economic hierarchy, this matches Marx s idea of a culture with capitalism involved.Show MoreRelatedSocial Class And Social Work Essay1367 Words à |à 6 Pagesof this assignment is to Examine the extent to which social class determines life chances in contemporary Britain, and explore the relevance of the issue for students on a social work degree. Economic Order Quantity Essay Example For Students
Economic Order Quantity Essay The Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) is the number of units that a company should add to inventory with each order to minimize the total costs of inventoryââ¬âsuch as holding costs, order costs, and shortage costs. The EOQ is used as part of a continuous review inventory system, in which the level of inventory is monitored at all times, and a fixed quantity is ordered each time the inventory level reaches a specific reorder point. The EOQ provides a model for calculating the appropriate reorder point and the optimal reorder quantity to ensure the instantaneous replenishment of inventory with no shortages. It can be a valuable tool for small business owners who need to make decisions about how much inventory to keep on hand, how many items to order each time, and how often to reorder to incur the lowest possible costs. The EOQ model assumes that demand is constant, and that inventory is depleted at a fixed rate until it reaches zero. At that point, a specific number of items arrive to return the inventory to its beginning level. Since the model assumes instantaneous replenishment, there are no inventory shortages or associated costs. Therefore, the cost of inventory under the EOQ model involves a tradeoff between inventory holding costs (the cost of storage, as well as the cost of tying up capital in inventory rather than investing it or using it for other purposes) and order costs (any fees associated with placing orders, such as delivery charges). Ordering a large amount at one time will increase a small businesss holding costs, while making more frequent orders of fewer items will reduce holding costs but increase order costs. The EOQ model finds the quantity that minimizes the sum of these costs. The basic EOQ formula is as follows: TC = PD + HQ/2 + SD/Q where TC is the total inventory cost per year, PD is the inventory purchase cost per year (price P multiplied by demand D in units per year), H is the holding cost, Q is the order quantity, and S is the order cost (in dollars per order). Breaking down the elements of the formula further, the yearly holding cost of inventory is H multiplied by the average number of units in inventory. Since the model assumes that inventory is depleted at a constant rate, the average number of units is equal to Q/2. The total order cost per year is S multiplied by the number of orders per year, which is equal to the annual demand divided by the number of orders, or D/Q. Finally, PD is constant, regardless of the order quantity. Taking these factors into consideration, solving for the optimal order quantity gives a formula of: HQ/2 = SD/Q, or Q = the square root of 2DS/H. The latter formula can be used to find the EOQ. For example, say that a painter uses 10 gallons of paint per day at $5 per gallon, and works 350 days per year. Under this scenario, the painters annual paint consumption (or demand) is 3,500 gallons. Also assume that the painter incurs holding costs of $3 per gallon per year, and order costs of $15 per order. In this case, the painters optimal order quantity can be found as follows: EOQ the square root of (2 3,500 15) /3 187 gallons. The number of orders is equal to D/Q, or 3,500 / 187. Thus the painter should order 187 gallons about 19 times per year, or every three weeks or so, in order to minimize his inventory costs. The EOQ will sometimes change as a result of quantity discounts, which are provided by some suppliers as an incentive for customers to place larger orders. .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3 , .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3 .postImageUrl , .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3 , .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3:hover , .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3:visited , .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3:active { border:0!important; } .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3:active , .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3 .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .udb32569c7a42751cd09200450326dcc3:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: pearl harbor EssayFor example, a certain supplier may charge $20 per unit on orders of less than 100 units and only $18 per unit on orders over 100 units. To determine whether it makes sense to take advantage of a quantity discount when reordering inventory, a small business owner must compute the EOQ using the formula (Q the square root of 2DS/H), compute the total cost of inventory for the EOQ and for all price break points above it, and then select the order quantity that provides the minimum total cost. For example, say that the painter can order 200 gallons or more for $4. 5 per gallon, with all other factors in the computation remaining the same. He must compare the total costs of taking this approach to the total costs under the EOQ. Using the total cost formula outlined above, the painter would find TC PD HQ/2 SD/Q (5 3,500) (3 187)/2 + (15 3,500)/187 $18,062 for the EOQ. Ordering the higher quantity and receiving the price discount would yield a total cost of (4. 75 3,500) (3 200)/2 (15 3,500)/200 $17,187. In other words, the painter can save $875 per year by taking advantage of the price break and making 17. 5 orders per year of 200 units each.

The International Declaration Of Human Rights Essay free essay sample
, Research Paper International Declaration of Human Rights and Freedoms History After the war offenses committed by the Germans in the holocaust that occurred during World War II, the United states decided to make a papers vouching regard for human rights and cardinal freedoms for all people, irrespective of race, sex, linguistic communication, or faith. This papers was called The Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The declaration was voted in on December 10, 1948, which is now celebrated each twelvemonth as Human Rights Day. The Declaration says that all human existences are born free and equal and establishes basic rights for all people and regulations for the actions of authoritiess in many countries refering to those rights. For illustration, it says that all people have the right to liberty, spiritual and political freedom, instruction, and economic wellbeing. It bans anguish and provinces that all people have the right to take part in their authoritiess. We will write a custom essay sample on The International Declaration Of Human Rights Essay or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The declaration is non a jurisprudence, unluckily, and in some instances has had small existent consequence on the member states of the UN. Governments with hapless human rights records, such as China, do non hold with the UN s efforts to advance human rights, stating that such actions interfere with their internal personal businesss. The UN has a Commission on Human Rights. Its occupation is to supervise maltreatments of the declaration in member states, hold international meetings on human rights issues and manage ailments about misdemeanors to the basic human rights. It was in 1993 that the General Assembly created the place of High Commissioner for Human Rights. The commissioner occupation is to supervise all of the UN s human rights plans, work to forestall human rights misdemeanors, and look into human rights maltreatments. It is besides in the commissioner s power to publicise maltreatments to human rights taking topographic point in any state. However most promotion about ma ltreatments to human rights does non come from the UN but from rival states or non-governmental groups like Amnesty International The UN has besides written four international pacts on human rights. These pacts do hold the force of jurisprudence but are really hard to implement. The pacts deal merely with the jobs of race murder, racial favoritism, civil and political rights, and economic and societal rights. These four pacts have merely been signed by about half of the states of the universe. Notably the United States has merely signed the pact refering race murder. Other states have besides refused to subscribe the conventions because of concerns about the specific footings of the conventions and the loss of authorization that such pacts imply. Recent Human Rights Activities The UN s most good known recent activities covering with human rights are the two International Criminal Tribunals held to convey to justice those responsible for the atrocious Acts of the Apostless of force c ommitted during the recent civil wars in the former states of Yugoslavia and Rwanda. The court for offenses committed in the former Yugoslavia was established by the UN s Security Council in 1993. The council started the Rwanda court in 1994. They are the first international war offenses tests since the N rnberg Tests for Nazi war felons that followed World War II. Although the courts were established by the Security Council, they operated independently of the UN. The tests depend on parts from states to maintain operating and were frequently hampered by fiscal deficits. Another more serious job was the inability to collar suspects in states that do non acknowledge the pacts brought in by the UN as valid. The Yugoslav court indicted 75 people for war offenses and race murder, including the top military and political leaders of the Serb forces in Bosnia and a high officer in the Croatian reserves in Bosnia but neither Serbia nor the Bosnian Serb forces have turned over suspects. The international military forces in Bosnia have besides refused to collar them. The president of Croatia really gave an indicted officer a publicity and decorations. In 1997 t he court had merely a smattering of low-ranking suspects to really convey to test. Impact Many critics of the UN claim that the International Declaration Of Human rights has had really small existent impact on violations to any of the rights outlined in it since it does non transport the force of jurisprudence. In many instances this is true, China still has virtually no freedom of address, in the former state of Yugoslavia there are still studies of cultural cleaning and atrocious offenses against humanity committed by both sides. What the Declaration has done is spoken up. Before it was put into composing there was no existent lineation for how people should be treated or what are the most basic in alienable rights that should be given to any human being. Another thing the declaration has done is cause people to stand up and take notice of human rights issues in the universe. Before it was drafted, many instances affecting human rights were merely ignored or kept quiet. Take for illustration merely earlier World War Two, Nazi Germany was known to desire to exting uish a great per centum of people non suiting into their Indo-european maestro race, yet they still hosted the Olympics of 1936. At those Olympics they refused to allow a gold decoration to a Judaic individual, Jesse Owens, and still America and many other states chose to disregard Germany for political grounds. After the war, about in response to the declarations, assorted human rights organisations, such as amnesty international have been created. They about ever use the Declaration as their basic lineation for the rights of human existences. These groups bring much attending to the human rights jobs of the universe. A good illustration was the ulterior war in Vietnam, protests in the United States over unjust intervention of enemy civilians is one of the chief grounds they were forced to draw out. So in decision I must state that cipher can reason that coercing people to stand up and take notice is the lone manner to extinguish a job and that is what the Declaration has achieved.

The Ethics Of Cloning Essays - Cloning, Human Cloning, Free Essays
The Ethics Of Cloning Essays - Cloning, Human Cloning, Free Essays The Ethics Of Cloning To Clone, Or Not To Clone? Did you ever imagine having a child that is the exact replica of you? Did you ever imagine of having the cure for heart disease or cancer? Well, these fantasies are not far from reach. The way we could reach these fantasies is through a process called cloning. Cloning is topic with which there is heated debate, and one that I feel that can be used for the better of all man kind. In this essay I will outline some of the key arguments and counter arguments surrounding this topic, as well as the advantages and the disadvantages. A very momentous argument opposing cloning is we are taking nature into our own hands by cloning animals or people. People question when we will draw the line for getting involved in natural events. Religious organizations consider nuclear transfer to cause men to be reproductively obsolete. This claim was deduced by gathering of the information that cloning requires only oocytes, any cell, and a woman to develop in. They also claim that cloning does not respect the fact that humans have souls. They also consider cloning unnatural, and say we are taking the work of God into our own hands. There is also a debate as to the moral rights of clones. Some say their rights will be defied because clones are not granted the birth of newness. That we would not receive clones with such excitement as a child of a couple who conceived naturally. If natural reproduction were to occur, genetic variation would occur. They say cloning would deprive a person of uniqueness. They argue that identical tw ins are not unique from each other, but that they are new in genetic variation and unique. People also wonder what mental and emotional problems would result if a clone were to find out that he or she was cloned. A major problem with the use of cloning on a large is scale is the decline in genetic diversity, and decline in gene pool. Think about it, if everyone has the same genetic material, what happens if we lose the ability to clone. We would have to resort to natural reproduction, causing us to inbreed, which will cause many problems. Also, if a population of organisms has the same genetic information, then the disease would wipe out the entire population. Helping endangered species by cloning will not help the problem. Currently, zoologists and environmentalists trying to save endangered species are not so much having trouble keeping population numbers up, but not having any animals to breed that are not cousins. The technique of cloning is also early in its developmental stages. Thus, errors are occurring when scientists carry out the procedure. For instance, it took 277 tries to produce Dolly, and Roslin scientists produced many lambs with abnormalities. If we tried to clone endangered species we could possibly kill the last females integral to the survival of a species. This may be the main reason science is holding out on cloning humans. Besides the pitfalls of cloning some people fail to recognize many of clonings benefits. Scientists ponder the idea of cloning endangered species to increase their population. The possibilities are endless. However, we are actually doing much of this research for the improvement of life for humans. Some of the ways that people could be helped are: create enriched dairy products. For example, cloning provides scientists a method to engineer cows to produce certain medicines or enzymes in there milk. Cure life threatening diseases and repair cosmetic defects. Produce new, fresh tissue for burn victims, or new nerve tissue for burns or back injuries Produce new heart cells for people with bad hearts. Totally reduce organ donor lists. Scientists foresee the cloning of monkeys that will produce organs that will not be rejected by humans. Also, as mentioned earlier, livestock can produce biological proteins helping people who have diseases including diabetes, Parkinson's, and Cystic Fibros is. Cloning also provides better research capabilities for finding cures to many diseases. There are also possibilities that nuclear transfer could provide benefits to those who would like children. For instance, couples who are infertile, or have genetic disorders, could use cloning to

Impact of Globalization Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Impact of Globalization - Essay Example Also, because of globalization, most firms were able to launch their products worldwide in a bid to make huge profits. Toyota, for instance, is a motor vehicle manufacturer founded in Japan but in an attempt to increase its revenue it had to spread to countries like the United States and other continents. The same goes for Ford Motor Company that started as an ââ¬Å"International New Ventureâ⬠. In addition to this, globalization made it possible for some countries to get what they could not produce cheaply as the cost of producing the same could have been higher than buying from international corporations. In spite of the possible advantages of going global, it is argued that this idea has a dividing factor between countries. The fact that governments are put in a situation whereby they must choose between a number of different companies from different countries is seen to be insinuating that there would be bad relations with corporations that are not chosen. Furthermore, the r ole of the government has been changed. The state ought to protect its interests by virtue of its sovereignty, but globalization forces state to privatize their agencies so as to benefit from the advantages that come with privatization. Turning to privatization in a bid to do business affects the governmentââ¬â¢s role in deciding how to run its agencies and this greatly dictates who may be sponsored to ascend to political power so that they may be easily influenced to sing to the tunes of these international corporations.

Southwest Airline comprehensive external environment analysis Research Paper
Southwest Airline comprehensive external environment analysis - Research Paper Example Though the local political affairs are usually kept under control, there are numerous other issues that do not lie within the companyââ¬â¢s hands. The perpetual rise in the fuel prices has always remained a major issue for Southwest. The unpredictable nature of the fuel prices is hugely attributed to several external factors which are usually not within the control of the company. The fuel prices are hugely driven by political agendas of the oil supplying nations and it may have varying results for the airline industry since oil is the major expenditure that an airline company has to endure in order to operate effectively and efficiently. Economic Factors The aviation industry within the United States of America has been a major contributor towards improving its countryââ¬â¢s economy. According to a study issued by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in May 2012, the airline industry has almost contributed $669.5 billion (4.9%) to the U.S. economy. Of this amount , almost 31% was contributed by airlines, airports and airline concerned services. The current era in which Southwest operates, fuel is presumably the main issue for not only Southwest airline but the entire aviation industry. According to the financial statements of Southwest Airlines, oil and jet fuel prices have remained at around 37% of total operating expenses both in the year 2011 and 2012 (Investor Relations, 2012). Social Factors Travelling has remained an important aspect of people normal living and with the dynamism in the economy, commuting has increased rapidly during the last four to five decades. People who usually travel from one place to another would always want to travel with low cost, high quality service. Hence it may be argued that such services are, based on their cheapness, are usually available via rail or road transport but this issue may be reduced to a greater extent since Southwest operates a low cost airline service and people would prefer it considering the low cost which it offers. Ecological Factors Environment friendliness has always remained an important feature for Southwest Airlines. The company has always focused on purchasing fleets that are both cost efficient as well as environment friendly. In a bid to prove it environment friendly nature, the company ordered the purchase of almost 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft which it considers to be more environment friendly than its present aircrafts (Annual Report, 2011). Southwest also uses environmentally responsible products within its aircraft fleet in order to help providing better atmosphere for its customers. In order to display its commitment towards improving the environment, the company issued its ââ¬Å"Southwest One Reportâ⬠. The report addresses several ecological issues and also provides strategies which would be adopted by the company to help reduce environmental hazards (Annual Report, 2011). Technological Factors The aviation service industry is technology inten sive with an upward shift required at frequent intervals in order to remain competitive. Southwest Airlines has continuously kept up its foot on the accelerator with respect to technologically upgrading its services. The company has improved its website and its frequent flyer program in order to attract more customers. The company has also improved its fleets by providing Wi-Fi services to its
